H. Bruce Markham Family

As seen in the "Origin of the Markham Name" and "Brief History of the Markhams in America", the Markham family can be traced to the time of the "Battle of Hastings" in 1066 England.

The other side of the family is related to the McCormicks of Londonderry, Ireland who emigrated to America in 1735 and the Kitchels, Pecks and others who emigrated during the 1600's. These families had a number of people who saw service in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and, later, in the Civil War.

The families can further be traced through more than 60 generations in Scotland, England and Europe, and are related to the Plantagenets, the Royal Family of England from about 1068 to about 1400. Their lines also produced the kings of Scotland from about 830 to about 1033. Further research reveals a relationship to the kings of the Franks from about 100 to about 400 and on through Charlemagne to William the Conqueror.

It is only historically interesting that these relationships exist and can be traced. The detailed charts of this genealogy have been prepared from a family tree file containing more than 3,400 names.

Where biographical information and notes have been taken from previous sources, no attempt has been made to edit the language and produce more modern spelling and/or usage.
